The Robert Heathcote prepared OUR LUKAS earns the June 2010 Owners of The Month Award thanks to another highly successful winter racing carnival campaign.

The six year-old Generous gelding claimed another Ipswich Cup (2400m) in June after also collecting the prized trophy last year.

Prior to his historic Ipswich Cup victory, Our Lukas also claimed the Listed Strawberry Road (1600m) at Eagle Farm.

Our Lukas changed hands midway through his career, with current owners Barry O’Toole and John Taylor receiving the ride of a lifetime since purchasing the horse in 2008 for just $65,000.

Following his second Ipswich Cup victory, Our Lukas earnings stand in advance of $545,000.

Eagle Farm trainer Robert Heathcote has prepared Our Lukas in all but five of his career starts for two sets of connections

He commenced his career under the care of ex Brisbane trainer Peter Moody, before moving North to Heathcote.

Bred by his former owner in New Zealand, Our Lukas is by Epsom Derby winner Generous, a proven source of middle distance performers throughout the world.

Out of the Gold Brose mare Parfore, Our Lukas is from the same female family as 2008 Champion New Zealand Two Year-Old Il Quello Veloce.
