Further Increase to North QLD TAB Meetings
26-Mar-2010: Following confirmation from Sky Channel that the new Sky Racing2 program will be operational from March 30, 2010, Queensland Racing Limited has taken the decision to broadcast a number of the previous non-TAB meetings conducted in Rockhampton, Townsville and Mackay on the Sky Racing2 channel.
This initiative is in line with the revised principles announced within the 2010/11 TAB racing schedule, where the optimisation of racing from existing TAB venues is a key strategy.
The following meetings will now be covered on the Sky Racing2 channel, which will also enable full TAB coverage by UNiTAB.
Saturday, April 3, 2010 Mackay
Saturday, April 10, 2010 Townsville
Saturday, May 1, 2010 Mackay
Saturday, May 22, 2010 Rockhampton
Saturday, May 29, 2010 Mackay
Saturday, June 5, 2010 Townsville
Saturday, June 12, 2010 Rockhampton
Saturday, June 19, 2010 Rockhampton
In some instances the number of races at these meetings have been increased by one to ensure a minimum of six races are programmed. The revised programs are available in the April 2010 Queensland Racing Magazine, with the alterations to the two April meetings listed below:
Saturday, April 3, 2010 – Race added to the Mackay meeting
$6,000 Open Handicap 1050 metres
Saturday, April 10, 2010 – Race added to the Townsville meeting
$6,000 Open Handicap 1630 metres
The announcement of this initiative is a timely boost for the staff and committee of the Mackay Turf Club who have been working overtime to remediate the facility following the significant damage caused by Cyclone Ului last weekend.
Ends.
