QTIS 600 Magic Millions Sale - Session 1 Summary
21-Mar-2010: A lovely colt by promising first season sire Snitzel topped proceedings during the first session of the 2010 Magic Millions QTIS 600 Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast today.
The colt, consigned by Glenlogan Park, was snapped up by Dean Watt's Dynamic Syndications operation for $135,000.
"He's a very athletic individual," Watt reported. "He's magnificently bred being a cross that's worked so well."
"Redoute's Choice over Rory's Jester produced Not a Single Doubt and Danehill over Rory's Jester produced our Blue Diamond winner Reward for Effort."
"He's very athletic. A lovely running two-year-old type and is by one of the hottest sires at the moment."
Watt is a fan of the sale and the QTIS 600 bonus scheme.
"Queensland Racing and Magic Millions should be congratulated for this sale and these great incentives," Watt noted.
"I wanted to come to the sale and take him the nicest horse and I've been able to buy him," he summed up.
Two other yearlings today sold for $100,000 - the Show a Heart-Vital Statistics colt and the Sequalo-Beating the Odds colt.
All up $3,654,500 was grossed on 167 yearlings at a healthy average price of $21,883 - up 29 per cent on the same session at the inaugural QTIS 600 Yearling Sale in 2009.
The clearance rate was 80 per cent - up from the 78 per cent achieved on the same day last year.
Magic Millions Managing Director David Chester was pleased with the proceedings and was looking forward to tomorrow's second session.
"It's been a positive day's selling," Chester said. "And while the figures were up on last year I still think there was outstanding value on offer."
"With $16 million in bonuses and races for graduates of the sale you can see why the complex was full of potential buyers, particularly from Queensland."
"You can see by the prizemoney already won by those horses who lined up in the $250,000 QTIS Plate at the Gold Coast track yesterday how lucrative buying from this sale can be."
The second session of the sale commences at 11am (Qld time) tomorrow.
